Truecaller needs no introduction, just to brief you its an app that shows contact details of calls that you get from unknown numbers. It is very convenient but at the same time can be a big privacy concern as your number is listed in a public database. For landline numbers, truecaller can even reveal address of the number. So, if you want to unlist/remove your number from truecaller, this post is a step by step guide.
You need to deactivate your TrueCaller account first, steps are as follows:
Open app > tap people icon in the upper left corner > Settings > About > Deactivate account.
Open app > tap gear icon in the top right corner > About Truecaller > Scroll down >Deactivate Truecaller.
Open app and tap the three dots in the bottom right corner > Settings > Help > Deactivate account.
Once your Truecaller account is deactivated, you can move ahead with removing your number from the service. Here’s how.
How to remove your number from Truecaller
- Go to the Truecaller unlist page. (http://truecaller.com/unlist
- Enter your phone number with the correct country code. For example:+919999999999.
- Chosse any reason for unlisting.
- Key in the verification captcha.
- Click Unlist.
Truecaller claims that it removes these numbers up to 24 hours after receiving an unlist request. This doesn’t always mean that your number will stay off the service forever. Your best bet is to keep checking with Truecaller users whether they see your contact details. If they don’t, you’re good to go. If not, you can always ask them to unlist your number.
